Dessert Ideas Beyond Wedding Cake

Dessert tables are always a favorite of wedding guests. It’s a chance for the bride and groom to share something that they love with their friends and family, and the guests opportunity to fill up on sweets. There are many ways you can go about it, and the most popular one is a combination of wedding cake and candy/dessert bar. But what else is out there besides an assortment of jelly beans or hard candy? Here are some unique ideas for dessert tables at your wedding reception presented by The Cake Zone

The great thing about chocolates, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, marshmallows and other candies is that it can be decorated to match any theme.
Empty bags are available for guests to take home their favorites.

Something Old, Something New

We love the new trend - vintage broach bouquet for a Bride.
At The Cake Zone we love this idea soo much that we had created a fondant vintage broach bouquet as a cake topper. We can make fondant broaches too, so your entire cake topper will be made out edible ingredients: rice crispy, chocolate and fondant. We can incorporate  Bride’s family heirloom brooches into the cake topper  bouquet.

One of our Brides asked all her friends and family to send her a broach. Then she took all the brooches they sent and gave it to us to create her “Broach bouquet” wedding cake topper. The day of her wedding everyone could see their piece in that bouquet - so sweet! You can also check out thrift stores or Ebay to find unique vintage broaches to match your wedding color palette.

Fondant vs Buttercream Wedding Cake?

I often get questions similar to this one regarding the difference between fondant & buttercream:

Q…Which one do you recommend (fondant vs buttercream) based on appearance plus taste?

A…The Cake Zone makes its own homemade marshmelows fondant. We always cover our cakes in vanilla buttercream first, and then put the rolled fondant on top :) ! This method has been used in Europe for years and is gaining its popularity here in the USA.
Fondant gives a more beautiful finishing than .

Buttercream finishing can be nice and smooth too, but it is less stable than Fondant finish and it's not recommended under hot and humid weather conditions in Florida....You don't want your wedding cake to lean, or to fall:)
Q…What does taste better: fondant or buttercream?
A… If you like candy, you'll love our homemade fondant! It can be colored and flavored…It is rolled out like a pie crust and draped over a cake which has been first coated in Vanilla buttercream frosting. So, you’ll get best of both worlds :) buttercream and much more design options. In addition , cakes covered with fondant are more stable and decorations stay in place under the Florida's sun.   Some people really like the taste, and those who don’t generally peel it off
